I... read more stayed here prior to and after a Kilimanjaro hike. Both rooms that I stayed in were well appointed and comfortable. The restaurant for all 3 meal periods was great! Good quality and service, by Usnah, David and Kelvin! It was nice to relax by the pool and also the lounge area close to the bar. I took advantage of the laundry service after my hike to get nice clean and fresh clothes to take home. Front desk staff, Eva and Julian, were very accommodating. The transport from/to the airport was much appreciated and it was only 10-15 minutes to the lodge. I slept very well on both stays... Cannot recommend this lodge enough!

  We traveled from the States and were going to Zanzibar the next day. We needed a place near the airport and chose the Planet Lodge. It is a great place... read more to stay. The staff are really friendly, the rooms are nice and spacious and clean. I would highly recommend staying there for anyone needing a place near Arusha. I also had one of the best massages there.

  Beware: while convenient for the airport, they are set out to squeeze the last dollars from you before you head home. I have seen German government bureaucrats with more... read more flexibility than these guys. My wife and I stayed with our 3 kids for 6 Hrs after the end of our Safari and the flight back home leaving at midnight. We just wanted a quick shower and a a place to change. Even though we booked 2 rooms at $200+ each, they insisted they had to charges us an extra $100 for our little one since each room only accommodates 2. I tried to make them understand that we wouldn't even take the free breakfast, as we would leave at midnight, nor would we do much sleeping and the 4 beds were fine, but after initially saying they'd try for an upgrade, the manager handed me 3 pages of small print regarding their "official policies" and insisted we pay. This all occurred AFTER we were already in the rooms, otherwise I would have simply sat in the lobby. Even the tour operator called them and spoke in Swahili pleading that they be flexible, but they would not budge and inch. So between a mediocre dinner, a noisy room by the highway, a checkout that lasted 35 min to charge the CC (with a 5% surcharge), a late delivery to the airport by their shuttle that left 8 guests waiting in the... I could have done that in NYC for less. Everywhere else in Tanzania people were friendly and accommodating. This was the only place where the entire staff looked like they didn't want to be there... The low point of our stay in Tanzania. They need to learn what a repeat customer is. Next time I will stay in Arusha and take the extra 30 min to drive to the airport as well spent price to avoid this awful place. More
